Senior of the Week – Curt Hauschildt

Major: International Affairs & Political Science
Hometown: Dover, NH
Fun Fact: I used to own a hedgehog named Pandora
Favorite place in Boston: The waterfront right off of the financial district. Preferably with ice cream.
-What was your favorite part of being in SAA?
Easily, the people in it. SAA attracts the type of wonderful individuals who have become some of my closest friends (and roommates!) here at Northeastern and I’ve loved nothing more than planning amazing events and going on various retreats, ski trips, and conferences with them.

-If you could go back to freshman year, what is one thing you would do differently?

Cried less while trying to learn Arabic. Seriously, though, would have let past Curt know that it only gets a tiny bit easier.

-If you could be any Rebecca’s sandwich, what would it be and why?

The grilled hummus wrap because mmmmm….hummus.-What is the most embarrassing/funny thing that has happened to you during college?

Probably something that’s been blocked out from Snowball.

-If you could have any superpower what would it be and why?

Maybe teleportation. No more having to deal with the green line or arriving somewhere for food late at night just after they close. It’d be nice to easily visit all of my friends spread throughout the world.-What are your plans for after graduation?

Tradition NEVER graduates.

-Describe opportunities that Northeastern has given you that you otherwise would not have.

The opportunity to choose your own path, even if that means being off campus (and often out of the country) more than being here in Boston. From chatting with diplomats about peace treaties they’ve helped broker to accidentally crashing the celebratory boat party for Miss Serbia 2012, there have been some wonderful experiences Northeastern has helped me to find abroad.

-What is one thing every student should do before they graduate?

Be Paws. There’s something special about putting on that hot, somewhat sweaty suit and running around to high five and take pictures with everyone excited to see their favorite mascot.

-What does the Shillman Cat say?

Presumably, Meow.
– If you were in an intense rap battle with a celebrity, who would you want it to be, and what would be your finishing verse?
Definitely Bill Nye the Science Guy. “Do you have 11 protons? Because you are sodium fine.” Whoops, that might have gotten a bit too intense…

Huskies of the Week

This week, we are highlighting Ritu Bhargava and Paul Carey for all of their awesome contributions to SAA!  We can’t wait to get to know you two even more!  Here are some fun facts about them…

Ritu Bharagava

Hometown: Los Altos Hills, CA
Major/year: Criminal Justuce, sophomore
Favorite thing about Northeastern/Boston?
The public transportation and the pride of being from Boston!

What are you most looking forward to in SAA?
Ski weekend (I’ve heard a lot of good things) and getting to know everyone better.
Fun fact about you?
I have a FIFA addiction. It’s bad.
Favorite movies and/or books?
The Dark Knight Trilogy
How do you hope to stay connected to Northeastern when you graduate?
Through SAA of course.
What has been the highlight of your year here at Northeastern so far?
Probably joining SAA.  I’ve made a lot of new friends and I definitely would not have gone to all the Homecoming events I went to.
Of the Celtics, Bruins, and Patriots, which is your favorite team?
How could I decide between Tom Brady and Tukka Rask?
If you were randomly told you had the week off and $5000 to spend, what would you do?
Um I would probably invest $4000 and then take the $1000 and fly a couple of my friends back to my place in CA so I could show them around.
What would your dream co-op be?
I’m not really sure because the co-op I just got already sounds like a dream come true.
If you were leader of the free world and had the ability to create an international holiday, what would it be and why?
Uh that’s a tough one. Probably like a food holiday where food is super cheap that day so everyone can go out and eat and get a nice meal even if they’re poor? I’m not sure if that counts as a holiday……

Paul Carey

Hometown:  Mahopac, New York
Major/year:  3rd Year Junior, Biology Major
Favorite thing about Northeastern/Boston?
Fenway park, hands down
What are you most looking forward to in SAA?
SAA has already provided me with many opportunities to meet new people and added a lot more to this semester.  The experiences I have had in the two months of membership only make me wonder what the rest of my time will be like.

Fun fact(s) about you?
I ran into Matt Damon after Game 1 of the World Series, and I am related to a Pope.
Favorite movies and/or books?
Favorite Move is Inception, Favorite Book is Catcher in the Rye
How do you hope to stay connected to Northeastern when you graduate?
I hope to stay connected by having a constant interaction with both the people of the university and the campus itself.  My goal is to be employed by Northeastern University at one time or another.
What has been the highlight of your year here at Northeastern so far?
Highlight of the academic year was the Sox winning the World Series.

Of the Celtics, Bruins, and Patriots, which is your favorite team?  Bruins

If you were randomly told you had the week off and $5000 to spend, what would you do? Go straight to Eastern Europe or Asia and travel on a whim.

What would your dream co-op be? My dream coop hands down is to work at Sam Adams Brewery in their lab.
